Getting Started

Accessing the App

HelmHOA runs in any modern web browser — Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge. Navigate to the URL provided by your building management team. No download is required, but you can install it as a Progressive Web App (PWA) for quick home-screen access.

Logging In

HelmHOA supports several sign-in methods:

Email + Password — Enter your email and password, then click Sign In. When you first create a password account, a verification email is sent — you must click the verification link before you can sign in.

Google Sign-In — Click the "Sign in with Google" button to use your Google account.

Email Link (Passwordless) — If your management sent you a magic link email, click the link to sign in instantly without a password.

Sign in with Apple — Available in the iPhone app.

First-time owners: Your building management will send you an invitation email. When you log in for the first time with the invited email, your account is automatically linked to your assigned unit(s).

First-time admins: An existing administrator will send you an invitation. When you sign in with the invited email, your account is created with the assigned role.

Multi-Factor Authentication

Multi-factor authentication asks for a second proof — usually a code on your phone — on top of your password.

If you sign in with Google or Apple, use that provider's own MFA. Turn it on in your Google or Apple account and it applies automatically when you sign in to HelmHOA. This is the better option: your organization already manages it.

Administrators handling association records, owner data and financial connections should treat MFA as expected rather than optional.

Lost your second factor? HelmHOA cannot reset it — it belongs to your identity provider, not to us. Recover it through Google or Apple, or through your IT administrator.

Forgot Your Password

If you have a password-based account and forgot your password:

1. On the login screen, enter your email address
2. Click "Forgot your password?"
3. Check your inbox for a password reset link from Firebase
4. Click the link and set a new password
5. Return to the app and sign in

Tip: The reset email may take a minute. Check your spam/junk folder if you don't see it.

Installing on Your Device

HelmHOA is a Progressive Web App (PWA) — install it to your home screen for quick access:

iPhone / iPad: Open in Safari → tap the Share button → tap "Add to Home Screen"

Android: Open in Chrome → tap the three-dot menu → tap "Add to Home Screen" or "Install App"

Desktop: Look for the install icon in your browser's address bar.

Once installed, the app opens in its own window and works like a native application.

Session Timeout

For security, the app automatically signs you out after 30 minutes of inactivity (no mouse, keyboard, touch, or scroll activity).

A warning modal with a 2-minute countdown appears before sign-out, giving you the chance to stay signed in by clicking "Stay Signed In". If the countdown expires, you are signed out and returned to the login screen.
