Actuals sit beside each line with their basis stated, special funding is recorded with its authorization, and past years can be entered so the board sees a history rather than a single year.

What Budget does
Line items matched by account code
Each budget line carries your account code, so this year’s line and last year’s are the same line. Lines are retired, never deleted — a line that disappears from the budget does not take its history with it.
Spreadsheet import
Bring the budget in from the spreadsheet you already keep. The adopted budget document itself stays in the records vault as the official record.
Actuals with their basis shown
Every actual says where it came from, and work-order costs can be linked to the budget line they belong to — counted once even when a project records the same expense.
Funding instruments
Special assessments and other funding are recorded with their authorization, and reach owners only once that authorization is recorded.
History, honestly qualified
Past years can be entered oldest-first. Every figure that crosses the date your history starts says so, so a partial history never reads as a complete one.

HelmHOA links to the budget — it never owns your chart of accounts and is built not to stand in the way of an accounting integration.
